Welcome to the Harlow Fields School and College PTFA!

At Harlow Fields School and College, we take immense pride in our vibrant and dedicated Parent-Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA), which plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience of our pupils.

Our PTFA is a wonderful group of volunteers - parents, carers, staff and friends - who work collaboratively to support and enrich our school community.

What is the PTFA?

The Parent-Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) is a voluntary organisation that strengthens the partnership between families and school.

Our mission is to:

  • support and celebrate the pupils of Harlow Fields
  • enrich learning and wellbeing
  • fundraise for equipment and experiences
  • bring our school community together

The PTFA offers a place for parents and carers to:

  • get involved in school life
  • share ideas and skills
  • help shape events and opportunities
  • make a tangible difference to pupils every day

Everything we raise is used for the benefit of Harlow Fields pupils.

How We Support Harlow Fields School and College

The PTFA raises money through events, donations and community partnerships.
Funds are used to pay for resources, enrichment activities and experiences that would not be possible through school budget alone.

Recent examples include:

  • sensory and wellbeing equipment
  • class gifts and celebrations
  • contributions to Sixth Form Prom
  • repairs to gym and play equipment
  • resources for seasonal festivals and community events
  • items for breakout and wellbeing rooms

Highlights and Achievements

PTFA-led events

  • Summer Fair, featuring stalls, raffles, music and community contributions
  • Winter Fair, including an inclusive and accessible Santa’s Grotto

Support for pupils

  • Gifts and celebration resources for classrooms
  • New equipment to support safety, movement and physical development
  • Furniture and resources to improve wellbeing spaces
  • Decorations and enhancements for Sixth Form Prom

Our Approach to Funds

All funds raised are:

  • banked and recorded through the PTFA account
  • overseen by our volunteer trustees
  • spent only on charitable purposes that support pupils

Card payments, online donations and cash handling follow clear procedures.

Looking Ahead

The PTFA is focused on:

  • developing a sensory garden
  • continuing to secure grants and sponsorship
  • supporting wellbeing, sensory, curriculum and community projects
  • building on previous events to bring our community together

We are also strengthening the PTFA by:

  • reviewing financial systems and processes
  • considering VAT registration
  • developing communication tools and volunteer coordination
  • planning a wider range of events and involvement opportunities

The PTFA operates as a registered charity with:

  • a published constitution
  • elected trustees
  • an approved reserves policy
  • transparent decision-making

PTFA Committee

Our current elected trustees are:

  • Sophie David - Chair

  • Helen Casey - Co-Chair

  • Demine Coericius - Treasurer

  • Sarah Matthews - Secretary

  • Darren Casey - Legal & Compliance Officer

During 2025, the PTA welcomed additional volunteer support which strengthened our ability to deliver fundraising events. Claire supported the Summer Fair, securing numerous raffle prize donations and providing paramedic-led demonstrations for  visitors. Following the Summer Fair, Jane and Nadene joined and contributed significant time and effort to planning and delivering the Winter Fair.

No trustee or volunteer receives payment - all time is given voluntarily.

Get Involved!

We are always looking for enthusiastic parents to join our PTFA and contribute their skills and ideas. Whether you can spare a little time or want to take on a more active role, your involvement can make a real difference.
