Pupil Premium Strategy at Harlow Fields School and College

The Pupil Premium is a government funding initiative designed to support schools in improving the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils. This funding is allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who meet specific criteria, including those who have been eligible for free school meals in the last six years, looked-after children, and service children.

At Harlow Fields School and College, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to succeed. The Pupil Premium funding is used to:

  • Enhance Academic Support: Provide targeted academic interventions and support for pupils who may be at risk of underachievement.
  • Improve Well-Being: Implement programmes that focus on the social and emotional well-being of our pupils, helping them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
  • Broaden Opportunities: Create additional opportunities for cultural enrichment and personal development, ensuring that all pupils can access a well-rounded education.

Our Pupil Premium strategy is built on a clear understanding of our pupils' needs and is informed by evidence-based practises. Key areas of focus include:

  1. High-Quality Teaching: Investing in professional development for staff to enhance teaching quality and ensure that all pupils receive high-quality instruction tailored to their individual needs.
  2. Targeted Interventions: Developing and implementing targeted support programmes that address specific barriers to learning for disadvantaged pupils.
  3. Extra-Curricular Activities: Providing access to a range of extracurricular activities that promote personal development, social skills, and cultural capital.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly assessing the impact of our Pupil Premium initiatives to ensure they are effective and making a measurable difference in our pupils’ outcomes.

We are dedicated to transparency and accountability regarding the use of Pupil Premium funding. Each year, we publish a Pupil Premium Strategy Statement on our website, detailing how the funding is allocated, the initiatives implemented, and the outcomes achieved. This statement is reviewed annually to reflect on our progress and adapt our strategies to meet the evolving needs of our pupils.

At Harlow Fields School and College, we believe that every pupil deserves the chance to succeed. Through our Pupil Premium funding, we are committed to providing the support and resources necessary to help our disadvantaged pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
