School Improvement at Harlow Fields School and College 2025-26
At Harlow Fields School and College, we are committed to continuous improvement to ensure that every pupil receives the highest quality of education and support. Our vision, "Working Together to Succeed," underpins our approach to school improvement, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where all pupils can thrive.
We have identified key areas for improvement that align with our commitment to providing excellent education for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). These priorities are designed to enhance the overall effectiveness of our school and college, ensuring that we meet the diverse needs of our pupils.
- Quality of Education - Continue developing a comprehensive framework that clearly articulates the curriculum intent, ensuring it aligns with the needs of pupils with SEND - to include specific learning objectives and outcomes for each area.
- Behaviour and Attitudes - Ensure that the behaviour policy is communicated effectively to all stakeholders, including pupils, parents, and staff (Sept 2025). Continue to provide professional development for staff on effective classroom management & transition techniques, including positive reinforcement and trauma perceptive practices. Introduce programmes that teach pupils and families self-regulation skills and encourage them to reflect on their behaviour. Create opportunities for pupils to support each other in managing behaviour, such as peer mentoring or buddy systems.
- Community Connections - Organise monthly community events such as open days, workshops, or family fun days that invite parents, local businesses, and community members to participate. Develop partnerships with local organisations, schools, charities, and businesses to create opportunities for pupils to engage in community service projects. Establish a structured system for gathering feedback from parents and community members regarding their experiences and suggestions for improvement, such as surveys or focus groups.
Continue working on school finances to reach a balanced budget, work with Essex County Council on the development of Harlow Fields School and College. Ensure a robust approach towards Safeguarding is maintained.
We believe that effective school improvement is a collaborative process involving all stakeholders, including pupils, staff, parents, and the community. We regularly review our progress against our improvement priorities and adapt our strategies to ensure we are meeting the needs of our pupils effectively.
By maintaining a focus on these priorities, we strive to create an environment where every pupil can achieve their full potential and succeed in their educational journey.
