Welcome to the PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) curriculum section of Harlow Fields School and College. Our PMLD curriculum is designed with the unique needs of our pupils in mind, focusing on fostering their individual strengths and promoting their overall development.

At Harlow Fields, we believe in the potential of every pupil. Our vision, "Working Together to Succeed," underpins our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all pupils can thrive. The PMLD curriculum is tailored to ensure that each pupil receives a holistic education that addresses their cognitive, emotional, physical, and social needs.

Welcome from the Headteacher

I am thrilled to be the Headteacher of Harlow Fields School and College! With over 24 years of experience teaching children across all phases and abilities, I am passionate about inclusive practises. Harlow Fields is a vibrant and nurturing environment where every pupil is valued, and we work together to help them thrive. I believe in the ‘three C’s’: being child-centred, conscientious, and fostering a strong community.

My expertise includes supporting pupils with autism and mental health challenges. I am also qualified in therapeutic meditation through The British School of Meditation. Additionally, I hold the National Professional Qualification for Middle and Senior Leaders (NPQML and NPQSL) and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

I hope you enjoy reading our website, and I look forward to welcoming you into school should you like to visit!

About Us

We are an outward facing school and college with many long-lasting relationships within the local community. We value close professional relationships and, most importantly, our relationships with the families that we serve.

Harlow Fields School and College came into existence in the late 1990’s (due to the amalgamation of Tye Green, The Mead and Commonside). Due to the commitment of our previous leadership team and devoted Governing Body, we have recently undergone further expansion by opening a dedicated 6th form area in September 2023. This area is furnished with modern facilities and our young people are exceptionally happy there!

What is it like to attend this school?

Harlow Fields School and College is a place where pupils are kind and respectful to each other. Staff ensure that pupils, including those with the most profound needs, are safe and well cared for.

Adults support pupils well to manage their complex emotions and feelings. This helps pupils to behave. On the playground, pupils interact positively with each other and staff. Pupils respect each other’s differences and needs. Students in the sixth form act as excellent role models for the younger pupils.
